After winning the first ever Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs in 1967, Vince Lombardi and the Green Bay Packers were back in the big game with a new opponent; the Oakland Raiders.
The Packers won the game easily by a score of 33-14. Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr won Super Bowl MVP throwing for 202 yards and a touchdown.
This would be Lombardi’s final game as the Packers’ head coach and it was more than a proper send off. He coached Green Bay from 1959-1968. He never had a losing season, posting a record of 96-34-6 in the regular season and a spectacular 9-1 record in the postseason. He is still known as one of the greatest coaches I NFL history to this day and was given the honor of having the Super Bowl trophy named after him.
